Your Stay at the Hospital from A-Z
Admission
Your admission starts with a few formalities. Please bring along your passport and your admission papers from your general practitioner or your embassy. As a member of your health insurance company bring along your health insurance ID card, your clinic card or an insurance number. Please give your exact personal data to our administration office.
A personal administrator, who is in charge of your formalities during your stay at the hospital, will be able to provide you with information regarding all costs accrued. All special costs like single room, double room, admission with a companion are charged separately.
Medical Care
Your doctor in charge will decide about the best individual treatment, always considering your wishes and concerns. In order to achieve the best results as possible, it is very important to follow the medical advice. Please do not hesitate to speak to us regarding any questions or concerns.
NB: We urge you not to take any extra medication without our agreement in order to avoid pharmacological interactions.
Family members or friends might not know this: For your own protection, the medical staff is legally bound to confidentiality regarding your medical condition. Therefore no information about patients is given to anybody unless requested by the patient. Concerning children, information is only given to the parents.
Informed consent plays an important role during your hospital stay. Your Doctor has to inform you about the indications, risks and possible complications of the planed procedure. The declaration of consent has to be in writing. In addition to that, you have to consent for the type of anaesthesia during your visit to the anaesthesiologist.
Visits
It is always good for you if you have visitors. Please make sure that there will not be too many visitors at the same time in order not to disturb the other patients and your recovery. Occasionally the medical or nursing staff has to ask your visitors to temporarily leave the room. We appreciate your understanding.

You can find the cafeteria in the entrance hall of the hospital.

Discharge
If the treatment is completed, we share your happiness to let you go home. Your doctor is going to inform you about the following rules of conduct to complete your recovery. Following the given medical advice lies in your own interest. In order to avoid a delay for the new patients, we kindly ask you to clear the room until 11am.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please make sure that you don’t leave anything behind.
TV
All rooms are equipped with cable TV. You can activate the TV by buying a TV card in the entrance hall or during admission.
Hairdresser
You can find a hairdresser on the ground floor, house 24. Mr Kiefernagel and his team are looking forward to welcoming you.

Cash Machine
You can find a cash point in the entrance hall of the hospital.
Kiosk
You can find a Kiosk in the entrance hall of the hospital.

Outside the business hours vending machines are available.
Church/Chapel
There is a protestant/catholic church at house 25, ground floor as well as a Room of Silence. On the first floor you can contact a pastor as well. You can call for a pastoral councelling as well.

On Sundays at 9.00am (Catholic) and 10.00 am (Protestant) a church service is offered. You and your visitors are invited to join the services.
Cultural activities
The association of cultural activities at the hospital invites you several times a year to concerts, exhibitions, lectures or cabaret. For patients entrance is free.
Meals
For lunch you can chose between three menus (except for weekends or holidays). You can individually choose the menu. One of them is very easily digestible and therefore called “Schonkost”. Breakfast and dinner can be individually arranged: Next to diverse kinds of bread, cheese and ham you can choose marmalade, jam, quark, Nutella, gherkins, etc. In the afternoon you can additionally have cake, cookies, tea or coffee.
Sometimes medical reasons will prevent you to choose a specific menu.
Mobile Phones
It is not allowed to use your mobile phone in the hospital. Medical devices or patients can be disturbed by using mobile phones.
At night
We keep the visiting hour flexible and adjusted to the needs of our patients. Please note that visitors have to leave the hospital at 10.00 pm at the latest. Many examinations start early in the morning, therefore we have to wake you up in time. Please be reminded that an undisturbed sleep helps you to recover quickly.
Park
You can visit the beautiful park area in front of the hospital with several benches.
When staying as an inpatient, you can receive letters addressed to your name and Ward, with the main address being:

Smoking and Alcohol
Cigarettes and Alcohol can harm your health and can negatively influence the healing process. The consumption of alcohol is strictly forbidden during your stay at the hospital. We are a non-smoking hospital. Since Jan,1st 2008 smoking is prohibited by law in hospitals. It is not even allowed to offer closed smoking areas.
Please obey the law.
Be Considerate
The stay in a hospital demands special thoughtfulness towards other patients. You can expect the same for yourself of course.
School for Patients
The school for sick children teaches every child which has to stay at the hospital for more than 4 weeks.

Please note that you only bring the most important items as toiletry, clothes (night gowns to change, bathrobe, slippers, and if necessary sporty dresses).

There is a mail box in front of the main entrance of the hospital.
The mail box will be cleared on weekdays.
Phone and TV
Every room has telephone and TV device. Telephones can be activated by paying a fee during admission procedure or afterwards.

(Wards 041, 042, 045, 046, 047)
In house 32A you can find the Wards of internal medicine 223, 215/225, 213 und 214/224 and the oncology ward 252. The Ward 251 you can find in house 29.
All the other wards are based the main house (29). Please note the information board in the entrance hall.

Valuables
Please leave money, jewellery and other valuables at home. Those valuables you have to bring you can leave at the admission desk against receipt. Otherwise we can not assume liability.
